The Principle

Louis Erlanger has been at the crossroads of music and technology for over thirty years, helping companies adopt new technologies.  He began his career as a touring and recording musician, winning numerous awards, recording for major labels, and having his guitar playing featured in many major films.  His parallel interests in new technology and his vision for "a digital jukebox" landed him a job as Director of Systems Development at EMI Music Publishing, the world's largest music publisher.  The worldwide web was still in its infancy when Erlanger spearheaded a major EMI project to consolidate the company's worldwide catalogue and put all of EMI's one million plus songs online, allowing both EMI's employees and its clients to rapidly access the music they want.  EMI Music Publishing became the first major music publisher to put its catalogue online, and a short time later Erlanger led a project to provide e-commerce services to EMI's clients.  He also led a project to re-structure the way EMI stored its intellectual property information, allowing EMI to respond more rapidly to changes in the business.   In 2005 Erlanger left EMI to form his own consulting company and continued to consult for EMI and many other entertainment and communications companies.
